CardForum/Cardline - January 31, 2005 A New Jersey businessman has opened a Spanish-language Web portal where Hispanics can shop for a credit card. The portal, TarjetadeCredito.com, means CreditCards.com in Spanish. It has 13 card issuers on the Web site, Mark Colyer, its owner and developer, tells CardLine. "I have American Express, Chase and Citibank. If an individual has good credit, he or she will receive a credit card from one of these issuers," Colyer says. "I also have subprime issuers CompuCredit and Household and stored-value cards on the site." Colyer only recently opened TarjetadeCredito.com, and with little or no marketing, he says it is receiving 1,500 to 3,000 hits per day. "It's an underperforming market [appeals to Hispanic consumers]," he explains. "We're starting to get approvals of some applications made through the site." For every approved application, he receives a sales commission from the card issuer. Colyer purchased the name, TarjetadeCredito.com, some time ago with idea of selling it later for a big profit. "It's like having real estate on the Internet," he says. His goal now, however is to continue to improve the site, and educate individuals who use it. For example, he wants to explain to visitors that their application for a credit card must have a Social Security number. "A lot of people don't know that," he says. Colyer also wants to establish relationships with card issuers in Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe. The Web portal also is in English. Spanish Credit Card Portal Opens - TarjetadeCredito.com Wyckoff , NJ January 25, 2005 The business of marketing credit cards on the internet is a multi million dollar a year business. Spanish web surfers in the USA now have a one stop shop financial portal to apply for credit cards, debit cards, and merchant accounts. TarjetadeCredito.com, a one stop shop for credit card and prepaid debit card products is officially opened for business. The uniqueness of the site is that content is available in both English and Spanish, targeting the ever growing Hispanic/Latino markets in the United States . "I am very excited about launching this business and the idea of becoming the premier financial credit card and debit card portal for the USA Spanish community", said Mark Colyer, owner and developer of the site. "We feel the spanish market is poorly represented in this sector, and the always important need to establish ones credit history and sound financial future is a true growth opportunity for this market". TarjetadeCredito.com, meaning "CreditCards.com" in Spanish, receives thousands of random hits throughout any one day from Spanish people worldwide searching for a credit card. "My goal within the next 90 days is to establish a Latin America, Caribbean, and Europe credit card issuer relationship, to cater to the many customers in those areas of the world that visit the site daily", said Colyer. "Then, we will have a true global spanish financial portal." The owner welcomes any partnership inquires or business development proposals. |
